Job Title: Business Process Analyst
Reports To: Business Process Re-Engineering Lead
Salary: HK$80,000 per month
Contract: 6 months
Purpose:
To elicit and document business requirements for software development through working with various stakeholders and act as a liaison between business users and the development team to ensure that the business vision and goal is met in the delivered software application. Specifically, to ensure that all end-to-end system and business processes on the Passenger Services System Programme are clearly documented down to work instruction level by using existing documentation and facilitation exercises with process owners and SMEs.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Demonstrate best-in-class business process management to the process owner (H)
• Perform continuous reviews to align system and business processes (for example, models, goals, expectations) with changing business conditions (H)
• Model, simulate and enhance business process diagrams using a graphic-oriented business process analysis or modelling tool (H)
• Determine and document the impact of BPR change and suggest policy, goals and rule changes (H)
• Show process stakeholders how to identify and solve process challenges through simulation of different scenarios, analysis of performance metrics and advanced optimization techniques (H)
• Ensure proper coordination between the IT organization and process owners by defining conceptual and contextual levels of detail in the business process models (H)
• Proactively draw out all types of requirements: functional, data, user interface, and non-functional, from stakeholders using a variety of elicitation techniques (e.g. interviewing, modelling, and surveying) (H)
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and distinguish users requests from the underlying business problems (H)
• Identify dependencies between processes (H)
• Identify and document constraints, assumptions and risks associated with business requirements (H)
• Measure and report on requirements activity (H)
• Maintain timely communications to business project stakeholders throughout the project life cycle to ensure common understanding of the requirements and the impact to the business area (H)
• Obtain requirements signoff from both business and stakeholders. (H)
• Communicate the proposed design solutions to the business stakeholders and help to guide decisions regarding tradeoffs that impact the requirements (L)
• Determine how to leverage enabling technologies to implement changes to business process, information and experiences (M)
• Ensure information captured, managed, accessed and archived across the enterprise meets quality, availability, compliance and security requirements (H)
• Support the implementation of the solution (H)
• Work with and get inputs from Portfolio, Architecture, Delivery, Development and Support teams (H)
• Track requirements and manage their change throughout the project life cycle (L)
• Collect data and tracks trends to analyze the actual project ROI and reports to the portfolio management team (L)
• Document requirements utilizing natural language, diagrams and models using techniques such as activity diagrams, use cases, flowcharts, sequence diagrams, etc. (M)
• Collaborate with other IT domains to drive business and technology innovation (L)
• Keep abreast of the latest trends in software development technology and practice (L)
• Keep abreast of the corresponding business domain’s strategy, business plan and latest industrial trends (L)
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
• A minimum of 6 years of IT experience with at least 3 years in a Business Process Analyst role with in-depth practice in process modelling (compulsory)
• Tertiary qualifications are desirable
• Hands-on experience with process modelling, analysis and simulation tools such as Holocentric Modeller, Visio, Global 360, I-Graphic etc.
• Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
• Ability to work well with others
• Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
• Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
• Ability and willingness to proactively accept and drive change to accomplish positive outcomes
• Ability to understand strategy and align tactical and strategic work in a well-balanced way
• Good understanding of applicable technology concepts, trends and capabilities, including Service Orientated Architecture, Web 2.0, reusability etc.
• Good business domain and industry knowledge
• Black belt in business process re-engineering, with solid experience in BPR and BPM in large organisation including utilisation of six sigma and Lean preferred
• Familiarity with balancing cross-functional business initiatives
• Knowledgeable in designing and constructing business processes, sub-processes and their links to automated tasks in IT
• Strong meeting-facilitation skills
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated and strong character
