Derek Dorman - Chief Executive Officer

Derek Dorman moved from a career in banking to the recruitment industry in 1996 and he has worked with some of the biggest international names in the business in both his native Dublin and in London. Over the years Derek has developed a deep knowledge of the recruitment business and is respected as an expert on the industry by his peers and colleagues. Derek founded the award-winning Gulf Connexions Group in 2005 and has seen the company grow from a one-man office in Bahrain to a company that now employes over 100 staff spanned across seven international offices and three continents.

Mark Hill - Executive Director

Mark began his recruitment career in 1998 with Aston Carter, a London based executive search firm specialising in senior retained positions in the London Tier 1 Investment Banking sector.

Mark successfully continued to recruit Risk, Compliance and Audit professionals in the European Banking industry until relocating to Dubai in 2006 to set-up a Banking and Finance recruitment team and establish Gulf Connexions Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices. Over the past 5 years Mark has been responsible for diversifying the Gulf Connexions Group brand from specialising in Banking & Finance recruitment to incorporate 6 other hugely successful sub divisions, Medical Connexions, Aviation Connexions, Energy Connexions, Law Connexions, Insurance Connexions and Nationalisation. In 2011 Mark also co-founded and established Gulf Connexions Group's Hong Kong and Singapore offices.

Derek Kenny - Director Hong Kong

Derek began his recruitment career in 2004 with Robert Half International. Derek was part of the team that set up RHI in Ireland and was responsible for building the contracting division which was a huge success. After a number of years in Ireland Derek went to Sydney and worked with Hudson Global Resources specialising in the placement of Finance Professionals into the Investment Banking sector. Derek's client list included major banks such as JP Morgan, Merril Lynch, Deutsche Bank and Australia's Premier Investment Bank, Macquarie Group. In late 2010 Derek moved to Hong Kong to help establish the Gulf Connexions Group in Hong Kong.

Hawraa Al Halwachi - Executive Director

Hawraa started her career in recruitment with Gulf Connexions in 2006. Hawraa has progressed from an associate level to the director level position she holds today. Over the years she has developed a reputation for professionalism and integrity and is recognized as an expert in the local banking market. Hawraa has secured retained, contingent, exclusive and temporary searches for Gulf Connexions and established effective partnerships with both local and international banking clients throughout the Middle east.

Anthony Kiamtia - Head of ICT

A seasoned ICT recruitment consultant, upon graduation Anthony Kiamtia initially worked within finance, working for both Royal Bank of Scotland and Coutts & Co Wealth Management before moving into recruitment in 2003. Since his inception in the recruitment market Anthony has always worked within the ICT arena, this has allowed him to build up an unparalleled list of contacts on both the client and candidate side. Showing a true tenacity for the job and innovative search techniques Anthony has since risen to the Divisional Manager for the ICT department of Gulf Connexions. Here he leads a skilled group of consultants and researchers within the IT, Telecommunications and Satellite industry.

Matt Weldon - Director

Matt began his recruitment career in London in 2006 covering mainly top tier International banks. After joining Gulf Connexions in 2009 with a remit to develop the Saudi Arabia office, he worked in Riyadh developing his network and building relationships. Gulf Connexions is currently the leading banking recruiter in Saudi Arabia and are placed on the PSL of 7 of the 12 domestic Saudi banks and the majority of International Banks listed with the CMA. Matt is now heading Investment Banking and Sovereign Wealth Fund recruitment across the GCC with a focus on UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Over the past 3 years, Matt has secured retained searches and long term relationships with numerous banks that have now partnered on an exclusive basis with Gulf Connexions to cover all their recruitment needs.

Willem Hanekom - Principal Consultant

Willem comes from a technical telecoms background where he worked in the UK as a Project Manager for a leading Telco installations & operations company. With his in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Telecoms industry he started his recruitment career in 2007 at RP International specialising in Telecommunications Recruitment Consultancy focusing on MENA &South-East Asia regions.Willem has been a key strategic contact to our ICT clients across the region and has also helped to establish the Group’s sub-division TechConnexions.
